Share Your Greeting Card Business With Friends Successfully

IMG_2318You’ve launched your online greeting card business and are so excited, right, and then this happens…

You bump into a friend you haven’t seen in a while. She’s on your list to contact about your new business, but you just haven’t made that contact yet. You want to break the ice, and you think she would be great, but you don’t want to approach her at the wrong time, or come across salesy.

She may be interested, and maybe now! So, how do you get the conversation started?

This is where good, “success” language and a “detached” outlook become so valuable. Your goal in every conversation is to put people at ease, begin the process and not do a “data dump” on them.

This is where questions become SO valuable.

 

Remember this right up front – you aren’t trying to “get” anyone in. That is no way to start or run a business.

 

Whether you are making a phone call specific to the business, run into your friend or are out together and the timing is right, make sure you ask good questions, listen and then keep the conversation geared toward your prospect’s point of view.

Let’s say you run into Jill, you ask how things are going and she begins to unload about her boss and how she HAS to get out of that dead end job.

The tendency might be to start spouting off about how great your business is and how perfect she would be, and she could fire that boss and on and on…

Instead, say something attention grabbing that will relate her back to her own reasons such as – “Jill, I don’t know if you know this, but I have been working on a side business for the past few months. It offers a nice alternative for working from home, getting out of the corporate rat race while being home with the kids. I work with a number of highly successful, six figure earning women who have left behind their jobs through this company. Would you be open to learning more?”

Share a benefit of your business from her point of view. Don’t even mention the company or product to begin. It doesn’t matter at this point. Your goal is to engage her emotionally. If she is intrigued, the time will come to share the rest, and in the right way.

If you are specifically making the call about the business, get to the point right up front.

“Hey Jill, I’m calling today with a business question to ask you and would also love to catch up, is now a good time?”

Now it’s okay to ask some simple questions that you both relate to, such as about the family and such, before diving in. Spend a few minutes and then YOU be the one to move the conversation to business

“The reason I called today Jill, is that I have been working on a new business project for the last few months. I work with a lot of women who have left corporate America to work with this company and I know you have mentioned for a long time that you would love to leave your job. Would you have about 15-20 minutes some time soon that I could share some details with you? I think it could be a fit for you, but that’s something only you can decide.”

When she says yes, schedule the time and then use the simple tools of our greeting card business to present the opportunity. Have her send a card, watch a video and learn more about earning an income.

And, then get permission to ask a few more questions.

“Do you mind if I ask a few questions now?”

“Why? Why would you want to look at this? Have you looked at any other options? What’s most important to you in another career option?”

Great, thanks, that helps me a lot for when we connect on XYZ date. I’m excited to share the details and I hope you’ll find it something of interest, and if not, that’s okay. You may be able to offer some referrals of others. I look forward to your feedback! I’ll talk to you then!

Now, everyone is clear on the direction of the next appointment and you have already cleared the way for her to say “No thank you” and remember – success is 100% about getting an answer – not just a YES!

Congratulations! Are you ready to finally be successful in Network Marketing?

 

Don’t let me speak for you, but I probably know how you are feeling. If you’ve read my story, you know that I will never be written up in the network marketing hall of fame as a “fast starter!” In fact, I’m sure my picture lined the hall of the “doubtfuls” for a while!

 

And, as we say, it’s a marathon and not a sprint. I finally figured it out not once, not twice, but now three times. I just passed my 19 year anniversary in Network Marketing and I can say this – I have NEVER quit.

 

And, since I have learned what works, I’m starting an 8 week, intensive, sure-fire success mentoring program for my team.

My Business and Team Plan for 2013

Welcome 2013! It’s here, like it or not! And, most people I have spoken with are GLAD to release 2012 and welcome in this promising, new year! How about you?

It’s always a good idea to reflect on what worked and what didn’t from the previous year, and so I thought it might be helpful for you if I shared a little of what 2012 consisted of, and what lies ahead for myself and my team for 2013.

Actually, 2012 was a great year for me. I won the SendOutCards company wide award as Top Sponsoring Team Builder; was named to the Eagle’s Nest Advisory Panel for the Summer and Winter session, and took top 5 (or higher) honors in the Eagle’s Point Challenge all year! I am a goal setter by nature and I love working with others to set powerful goals, and then lay out the action steps that make those goals come alive, and come to pass!

As exciting as it is to win an award, it is MUCH more rewarding when your team does as well. And, I had some of the team finish in the top 50 and top 100 in the Eagle’s Point Challenges, too! Kudos to the team!

How did I do this? How did WE do this?

Well, we followed the simple daily action steps laid out by the company, in our training. And, as a team, we worked hard on developing good “scripting language for success!” We did team calls, role playing and one on one work together to help anyone who wanted to develop and improve on what they say to introduce the business to others.

We have a team accountability and mentoring call every week, along with a team calling blitz. While neither are mandatory, those who join in see much higher results, typically, than those who don’t!

Those are all great examples of what worked.

We had our team launch call on January 2nd, and covered some specific ideas for building the team and getting more people into top earning slots. Once you are on the team, you’ll have access to all of our calls.

Here are some areas we covered on the call and are focused on as a team for 2013 –

Social Media is back in the spotlight! I am truly convinced that WHEN DONE RIGHT, the internet and tools of Social Media are a powerful way to find people interested in the business. So, I’ll be coaching on the methods that helped me sponsor over 1,400 people in the last 13 years, and become that top sponsoring team builder for the SOC year!!!

We are focused on these key things as a team –

  • MeetUp and building locally through Social Media first.
  • Blogging – this powerful tool is a solid platform for anyone who wants to attract a following, and is willing to BE CONSISTENT and learn!
  • Using Facebook to reach out, connect and FORM people. We are NOT talking about blatant advertising, posting your opportunity links and calls all over your timeline, etc. I am talking about building relationships and reaching out to people who indicate a desire.
  • Niche markets – who can you relate to?

Offline, we are focused on some key areas that work
  • Small, in home business launches, or Coffee and Cards gatherings.
  • Local Networking events – we have a GREAT product to introduce to small business owners – ask about our Gratitude Marketing overviews and ways of introducing our product to others!
  • Live daily Opportunity calls
  • Our simple Card Demo and Walk Through – no easier way to share the business

These are a few of the proven, timeless methods that have worked for me for the past 19 years offline, and the past 13 years online.

And, of course, the real beauty of having a truly internet based business – this is the perfect business for that because:

  • We are unique, not competing with dozens of “me too” companies and products such as weight loss, vitamins, juice, nutritional products; skincare; makeup; travel; technology, etc. Nothing wrong with those, except when the question comes up – what makes your XYZ unique?
  • We have a business where you can literally make your list, pick up the phone, share what we are doing using our proven “scripting” techniques; ask for referrals and do it all without leaving your home
  • No products to stock or deliver
  • No inventory to keep on hand
  • No expensive monthly auto-costs or ongoing costs
